Kiahna's First ER Visit

We took Kiahna to the ER tonight because we thought her shoulder was dislocated. We had been playing the "one, two, three, SWING" game as we were leaving the mall and walking to the car. Mimi heard a pop, and Kiahna started to cry--she cried all the way home.

I called Dr. Alex to get his expert advice (Thank you, Alex!!!). Alex said it could also be her elbow that had popped. Either way, we would have to see a doctor to get it put back in place. We dropped the sisters off at the house with Mimi, then TJ and I took Kiahna to the Midwest City ER. The check-in desk told us that it would be a 4-5 hour wait. We walked right back out and drove 20 minutes to the ER in Yukon--that's the hospital by our old house in Mustang.

When we got to the Yukon ER, we walked to the front desk, and we got checked in right away. Within 15 minutues the doctor came in the room--it took him about 10 seconds to examine her arm and pop her elbow back into place. Kiahna immediately stopped crying (but she was still frowning at the doctor), and then she started to play with some stickers and bubbles. Within a few minutes she was laughing again.

When the doctor came back in to check on her, she quit laughing. I guess she was holding a grudge for touching her arm while it was hurting. The doctor thought that she didn't have any broken bones, but would take x-rays if we wanted to. We decided we wanted x-rays just to make sure everything was okay.

Kiahna didn't really care for the x-ray machine, but she tolerated it. We waited another 10 minutes for the x-ray report--no fractures!

We got home just a little bit ago. The girls were awake, and they wanted to hear all about Kiahna's owie arm. They were really concerned for their sister. Kiahna assured them that she was just fine. They are in bed now, but not yet asleep. I think they are still wound up from everything that happened tonight.

I am just thankful that she is fine. It's not any fun when your children get hurt--especially when they got hurt playing the game you were playing with them!
