Who Would Have Thought?
Our Honda Accord was stolen on Sunday morning sometime between 3:30 AM (when TJ got home from his limo job) and 4:30 AM (when he returned to the car to get some things out of it). At first we were both thinking that surely he must of gotten mixed up on where he thought he had parked it, but then he found the window on the ground and that pretty much settled it.
Of course there was nothing that the police could do but take a report. We were not expecting to find the car any time soon, so we were surprised when the police called us at midnight. They found the car about 10 miles from our house. They told us we could go to the impound and take a look at it in the morning...so that's what we did this morning.
TJ had to take off from work so we could go to the impound, then to the tag agency to get the registration sheet, and then back to the impound. They took us to our car and it was strange to see it in that condition. There were a few things in the car that they did not take, and so we got all the rest of the stuff out.
Then we had to go to the bank, close our accounts, and reopen new ones. Then we spent an hour at the insurance office getting things straightened out, and then we followed that up with 2 hours getting a car rental for TJ.
We still have a hard time believing that this really happened. As always with these types of things, we somehow convince ourselves that this stuff only happens to "other people". This time we were THOSE people.
